Harriett’s Bookshop

Philadelphia, PA

Named for historical heroine Harriet Tubman, owner Jeannine Cook opened Harriett’s Bookshop to celebrate women authors, women artists, and women activists. Make a donation today to help Harriett’s secure a permanent location in Philadelphia!

“As it stands, I am a modern day sharecropper bringing energy and investing money in a location that I cannot pass down to my children. But we can change that. The new permanent location would give us a mission focused bookshop with an 1800s residential feel that includes multiple floors of private book nooks, indoor/outdoor green space, meeting rooms, and a state of the art third floor apartment which will be used to house a visiting rotation of authors, artists, and activists. With your donation, our monument to Harriet Tubman will be a permanent staple in the community and our impact will be felt for generations. We appreciate your contribution from the bottom of our hearts.” Jeannine Cook

Monarch Books

Arroyo Grande, CA

Monarch Books is a new independent bookstore in the heart of Arroyo Grande, CA. Owner Taneesha Regez says the name of the shop is a nod to the iconic Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove, but also holds metaphorical meaning. "Of course, it's a symbol of our coast. I think also it's a symbol of this dream. This is the second half of my life and this is what I want to do forever—like a monarch emerging from its chrysalis.” (from newtimesslo.com).
