Belonging
Karen Germain
Standing in the drizzle, he looks at the garden
But thinks
Her skin must feel like Lamb’s Ears and her eyes
Easter Irises, the mole on her cheek
Center of a Black-Eyed-Susan
She hands him a glass
Finger skim
Sparkling water, Koi pond ripples
Long curls, untamed things that belong
In this space
Rip it all out, my husband wants rocks
Save the fish, if it’s easy
Patrick flinched
It had been years since he had worked
With living things
